Luke said that "one day" he wants to paint some ACEOs. He is always sketching cute, scary, or crazy little characters, it would be great if he had them all in ACEO form. Today I showed him how (or at least how I do it.) The girls joined in and it was so much fun to see all of their different styles. I was especially impressed with Sylvia listening and following instructions.

We have a bucket full of these little rubbery colored animals. At times I've wanted to throw them out since it seems that no matter how high I hide them, with Sylvia around, they end up all over the house anyway. But they are great for counting games, color games, teaching organizing and categorizing and even science and nature.
Isabel helped me trace these circles onto paper and make up categories for Sylvia to sort.

A recent goal of mine is to do more math with my children that is out of their text books. This activity counts! (notice the no pants, we have a slightly less strict dress code here than your average school.)
I usually have quotes from Sylvia to share. Today I have a few from Luke....
- After he caught a small bee/fly? in his bug jar he said, "It just feels so good to have something in my jar, no matter how common the species."
- While in the pet store, all of the huge parrots and cockatoos started squawking. Luke, "It's like a store full of Sylvias!"
- Staring off into space. Luke, "I have about a million things going on in my head right now."
- While exploring under the ocean on Google Earth (by the way, did you know you can go under the ocean on Google Earth?) Luke said, "I wonder if I am the first person to ever be at this exact spot in the ocean on Google Earth!" Oh my little virtual explorer.
We've started reading the book, The Witches by Roald Dahl. A very good book for Halloween!
